Insufficient Cooling from Central Air Conditioner

My central air conditioning system in my home cannot maintain an indoor temperature of 75 degrees when the outside temperature raises above 90 degrees. The compressor will run continuously and the indoor temperature will slowly creep upward a few degrees. I have added some wireless thermometers into the intake duct prior to entering the blower and also at the output duct right above the evaporator coil to monitor the air temperature drop. When the systems first comes on the initial temperature drop is around 4 degrees over the first few minutes and then slowly begans to fall. After over one hour the air temperature drop across the evaporator coil finally stabilizes at a 15 degree drop. I believe this temperature drop is ok but is it normal for it to take over 1 hour for the system to get to its normal temperature drop? The system is 6 years old and the evaporator and condensor coils appear clean.

Have the refrigerant level checked by a professional.

Want to Ballpark Performance?

If U want me to run a ballpark analysis of how your system is performing in respect to its 'system efficiency ratio' we need at least the following numbers:

Performance Data Collection Ė Best Time to collect data is Late afternoon around 4:30 pm; also when outdoor temps are around 85; 95; or 105F or, anywhere in between.
