My a/c turns off

My indoor and outdoor unit turn off and the thermostat still says "cool on" and sometimes the a/c will turn on for couple seconds and turn off, again with "cool on" still showing on thermostat.

When the a/c turns on it blows cold air as normal.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

There is likely a wet switch or float switch or possible a condensate pump switch that is shutting everything off. Check for a drain pan under your furnace/coil and I bet it is full of water. If you have a condensate pump I would guess that it needs cleaned. These are the first things I would check.

hvactechfw,

Thanks for the help. The drain line was clogged causing the float switch to turn off the system. I sucked it out with a shop vac and poured some chlorine down the pvc pipe and that did the trick.

Saved me a service...thanks
