furnace humidifier malfunction

Hi all,
I have determined that the problem with my humidier malfunction is that the water is not going through the solenoid which is connected to the humidistat. The solenoid is getting power (and water), and the humidistat seems to be kicking in, but no water flow. Can these solenoids be cleaned/repaired, or is a new one the best fix?
Thanks,
...... john

Depending on your model of humidifier ( you did not stat this) Shut off the water and remove the incoming line from the solenoid. There is a screen inside the inlet. Use a screw and screw into the screen and then pull on the screw and pull both out. Is the screen plugged? clean or replace it.

Next remove the outlet pipe from the solenoid. There should be an orifice in the outlet pipe that tend to get plugged. Use a sewing needle or something even smaller to ensure that the orifice is not clogged.

Thanks,
