Central AC wire melting?

I just noticed a small, assumably low voltage line going from my Pulse 21 furnace outside to my AC has about a 3 inch area where the insulation has aparetnly melted some. Any idea why this would have happened? It's not near any heat sources...

I just noticed it, it is possible it's been this way for quite some time, as I recently purchased the home. Should I be concerned?

I would splice in wire where that melting is occuring. I have no idea why it might be melted other than it might have melted when they brazed in the lineset if the wire was close to the lineset while brazing.
