Mini Split A/C Air Handler

I have a Carrier 3 zone mini split A/C. The air handler on the main floor is large and an eyesore. The 2 handlers upstairs cool the entire house pretty well. My question is, can the main floor handler be replaced by one that is smaller and not as obtrusive? Thx to all who reply.

I can't answer your exact question but I do have a question that may be important to the issue here. You said the two units upstairs cool the entire house pretty well. Does that mean you've tried using just the upstairs two without the third one being on ?

Sure you could get a smaller unit. But id say leave what you have.. Have lots of issues when you start working on ductless splits years down the road. Its also hard to find units even a year out because they change so much.

Maybe you could get a unit that has a bit smaller profile but not actually be smaller. I imagine these are sized based on room size and getting one smaller might not work. I am no expert though but have seen them installed many times on This Old House and Ask This Old House and did notice different profiles.
