A/C not working. Question

I live in a townhouse (rental) and am having issues with my A/C unit. The unit is a Rheem Corsaire Series (Model # 10PJB24A01). It was manufactured in 2005. I called maintenance and he said there may be a leak. However, he says he needs a warm, dry day to properly detect leaks. Is he putting me on? Its getting hot in here. While my wife and I get hot in here, he waits for a warm dry day. Then God only knows how long to properly fix it. Today was perfect for him to stop by, but management said the maintenance man had an appointment.

I can understand the warm dry day but has he been there already to check the unit ?

Has he already determined that your system is low or is that just a guess ?
Once the problem has been identified then he can schedule his next visit based on his diagnosis.

He has been here already a couple of times. He put some refrigerant in it but says there is a leak. He used a leak detector but found none. Thats when he said he needs a warm dry day to properly diagnose.

A small leak can be hard to find and the wind will make it even harder.
