AC won't turn on

Central AC unit at home has been working fine for the past month. Last night, when I turned it on through the thermostat, nothing happened. No sound or noise or air. The batteries in the thermostat were goog but I changed them anyway. I checked the main circuit breaker and it was not tripped (i reset it anyway). I tried turning on the fan or the heat as well, but still nothing happened, no sound no noise at all.

The heat unit was only 1 year old. So somehow it must be a switch being off or something to make both the AC / heat / fan not working. It was working before and I have not touched any of the switches / wiring / etc.

Thanks for your help.

There should be two double poled breakers.
Did you turn them all the way off and back on?
