Trouble shooting help plz

I have an older model YORK outside unit model # E1FB018506A
SERIAL # EED 1172894 REPLACE 2 capacitors and will not run fan unless I manually hold the the switch in. Have stuck a piece of cardboard in to keep running when I went inside to check on how it was running it worked fine even shut down on its own and stated back up on its own. is the switch bad and need replacing?

Could be...but more likely it's not getting the voltage needed. Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it?

You can cause damage by forcing it to run like you have. The inside fan may turn on and off, but from what you say you've done, the compressor and fan outside would stay on all the time...thats bad.

it may cause damage.... you need to measure the control voltage at the contactor.
