Exclamation dont know where A/C filter is in new house

hi I just moved into a new house. I am trying to locate the ceiling air conditioner filter. The filters that you can normally buy at Home Depot. I can't seem to find it anywhere in the house where the ceiling filters are. My house was built in the 80's. Any ideas?

Have you looked at the walls? Most I have seen are in the wall near the floor.

Normally if an air handler is installed in the attic it's over the hallway. The filter is usually above the grille in the hallway

The filter rack may be there without a filter in it.

If that's the case, measure the area & the depth where the filter goes & go buy one.

Do NOT buy a 1" deep pleated filter as it will restrict airflow too much!
