A/C unit needs replaced??

I have a York furnace and A/C. The outdoor unit needs replaced but the furnace is OK. Two repairman came and ironically BOTH want to replace the outdoor unit with a Lennox unit rather than a York. Does it matter if the furnace and A/C are different brands?? I assume it's OK as long as the unit is compatible with the furnace. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd recommend a matching coil for any a/c that I had installed. If the furnace is under 10 yrs keep it...over that, find an honest opinion after having the heat exchanger inspected.

You are correct, the furnace and A/C brands can be different. I have a 3-year old York modulating gas furnace (95% efficiency) and a 21-year old Bryant A/C unit.
