Ac smells like dirty socks when ac is on
New ac installed in may 2013. When ac turns on dirty sock smell came
Roaring out of vents. Switch fan to on and ac off and smell went away. So that took the duct work out of the equation so i pulled the evap coil out and sprayed it thoroughly evap coil cleaner, foam spray from a can. It went away for now but i worry it will come back.
I am a service tech and the home is in georgia in a basement. Also the evap coil had no spots or mold on it. Has anyone else seen or resolved a problem like this?

Yours is not an uncommon problem.There were several threads running on the same exact problem. I seem to remember it being caused by the type of metal the evaporator coil is made of. I'll look up some of those old threads. You can use the search box up top to search here for the threads too.
