carrier fa4bnf030 air handler blower problems

Hi i have a carrier air handle and recently the blower motor quit working. First it just quit about the same time every day when on auto then i would shut it off for an hour, switched it to fan on and it will work again. Now all i get is the relay clicking when i switch to on. Ive checked the capacitor and it's reading 7.1 mfd with 7.5mfd rating +/- 6%. My neighbor told me to change the capacitor out and see if it helps.

My question is if it doesn't work, how do i test the motor? It has 2 brown going to the capacitor. Yellow to common, blue to relay and black that's capped off. If not the motor what else do i need to check?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

I would doubt it's the capacitor causing your issue. It sounds like your fan motor is dying. Next time it fails..... open the blower access area up and see how hot the motor is. If it's real hot then it's shutting down on thermal overload.

You really can't check the motor. If it's getting power and it won't run.... then it's bad.
