when a/c is off, heating elements cycle on and off..normal?

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. WE have central forced air. I have the unit on "a/c...auto mode". When it's running, it's okay, but when it stops, the heating elements come on for about a minute and go off. They keep cycling this way. when the a/c kicks in again, the elements go off. Is this normal?
The only thing i can think of is that they come on to take out some of the moisture in the duct???
any advice would be great.thanks
fab
p.s. we had a honeywell focus pro 6000 thermostat installed last winter.

Is this a heat pump? It sounds like it is going into defrost mode. No this is not normal.

Yes it has a heat pump. Maybe it's a relay?

Yes..... maybe it's a relay. Maybe it's normal and maybe it's not.

We would need the make and model number of your system to check any further.

hi Gang..okay the evap section is a lennox C33-38B-2....the heating(fan) section is lennox sentinal EC10.

i just noticed today that i have a small puddle of water on the floor...yay.
secondly, i had the expansion valve(inside just before coils) go frozen a month ago. (blocked filter and had hot mist humidifier on at same time). it was fine after but i notice that when the system is running the small line going into expansion valve is making a "gargling" noise and is slightly cool, bigger pipe is cold to touch. I also looked inside unit at the evap and it is cold but sweating (water)..is this normal?
thanks
fab
