Central AC unit compressor problems.
My central air compressor will not stay running. When you set the thermostat to cool everything kicks on like normal, fan on the condenser kicks on, and the compressor starts. The air at the vents in the house blows good and cool but within 5 minutes the compressor kicks off and the fan on the top condenser stays running. If you leave it running once in a great while it the compressor will kick back on but most of the time you have to leave it off for awhile before you can get it to kick back on. I have cleaned the the condenser with a water hose to make sure there is no air flow problems on the outside of the condenser. Unit was installed in 2011 so its a newer unit. Any ideas where to start would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
That's not good. it sounds like your compressor is shutting down on thermal overload. It could possibly be a defective/leaky starting capacitor keeping the start winding on line.
You could try replacing the compressor capacitor first or you'll need to call in a technician.
Post the make and model number of the outside unit.
