thermostat wiring for heat pump

I just replaced an old mercury thermostat with a Honeywell RTH6450D thermostat for my heat pump.
One thing I wasn't sure and wanted to verify if I have done it correctly.
My old mercury thermostat had the following wires connected
Y, G, O, C, W2, E, R

Everything else match the wiring diagram except W2 and C. For C, I taped it because instruction said do not use.

Based on the wiring diagram by Honeywell (see below), W2 and E should be wired to the same E/Aux terminal. I did just that. I wired both E and W2 to E/Aux terminal.

But #4 in the note in the wiring chart (bellow)) is confusing. It says if your old thermostat had Y1, W1 and W2 wires, stop now and contact a qualified contractor for help. I wasn't sure it meant if the old thermostat had all three or anyone of them (mine has W2 but not Y1 and W1).

I tried to call honeywell for help and waited for 30 minutes. no one answered.
so I went ahead and wired W2 and E to the same E/Aux terminal.

My wiring is this
Old --> New
=======
E and W2 --> E/Aux
G-->G
O-->O/B
Y-->Y
R-->R
C --> taped with electrical tape

Note that AC works fine after programming. But I didn't test heat and emergency heat because it's too hot.

Can anyone comment to see if my wiring is correct?

Thank you. The AC has been running fine. but I didn't test heating and emergency heat. that's why I'm concerned.
