Is this a fair quote? WWYD
I have an aging/failing upstairs HVAC system that needs replaced. The furnace and blower are apparently in good shape, but we're looking at replacing at least the A/C components. So far I've been presented with two options (see attached image).
I like the idea of a bigger A/C with a variable speed blower, because on hot days the old system is struggling to keep up. However, $9k is way more than I expected to be spending. Is it overpriced?
Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

Compared to what I used to install 10 & 12-SEER units for, the price seems awfully high.
Prices seem to vary a lot depending on what city you live in...
I'm betting there would be a market for new or used 10 &/or 12-SEER condensers if it where legal to sell them...many can't afford the new high cost central A/C situation; an option is small window units.
With a larger fan to circulate the air they can cool large areas at low cost; that is what I am using, as never had central air in my 1937 farm home.
