Magic Chef humming noise

Magic Chef humming noise
My Magic Chef Mod. # G66-75D2C2.5-5 makes a humming noise when the AC is running. It still cools and turns on. The noise appears to be coming from a black electrical box located when you remove the front cover on the right side. Any idea what this black box is and does it need to be replaced or is it jus the old unit getting older?

Welcome to the forums.
That sounds like it may be the transformer. A hum is normal.... a loud buzz isn't.
I couldn't find any info or pictures of your unit. If you could take a picture and post it here for us we could try to verify the part in question.
