Goodman Quality concerns???

I have received many quotes and the lowest is for a Goodman 16 seer, I have heard some people say Goodman has bad quality, others say its great. Would like to hear opinions about Goodman, vs trane vs carrier vs bryant please.
Thanks!

I had a Janitrol HP [made by goodman] installed about 17-18 yrs ago. I had a lot of trouble out of the outside unit and wound up replacing it [with a goodman] about 10 yrs ago. For the most part my HP has been issue free since although it has had some minor parts replaced. The last tech stated that Goodmans were his 'bread and butter' when it came to repairs. While price would be a factor, I'm not certain I would buy another one.

The July 2014 issue of Consumer Reports has a chart for the reliability of central air conditioners and heat pumps on page 51.

Goodman is a good bang for your buck. I wish the engineers did a few installs themselves , so they could see how stupid some of their decisions are but for the price, you can't go wrong.

A good number of units with different labels come off the same assembly lines, with many common parts. I believe it's the quality of the INSTALLATION that can make or break any system.

They all have the same warranties, 10 years. We put in a lot of Goodman and have had very little trouble.

Present day Goodman heat pumps & A/Cs are of good quality.
The 14-SEER & up have a lifetime warrantee on the compressor.

I personally like Goodman heat pumps & A/Cs; Goodman has the best 'Expanded Performance Data' on the Internet.

Goodman does not spend a fortune on advertising as do many other brands.
