Lots of water leaking from HVAC drain pipe

The drain is doing it's job, but there's some serious water coming out of the pipe outside. I probably wouldn't have noticed, but the drain pipe comes out on the roof of the patio, so obviously a steady flow of water isn't convenient.

Is it normal to have a significant drip (would fill a 5 gallon bucket in an hour or so) or is there something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Nick

The system is doing its job and removing the humidity in the house. It might be possible to direct the drain to a better location.

I know a guy that forgot to turn off his humidifier on his furnace/air handler since winter. When the fan turned on the water valve would open. Maybe you have something similar? Swamp cooler?

No, central air. Just had a new condenser installed, but the old one was doing the same thing.

@tomf63 - That was my plan, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't a bigger issue.
