Water coming from filter "box" (ceiling)

Hi everybody,

Water coming from the filter (ceiling) is probably something you have heard many times.
As you will see on the pictures, there is no water in the pan (no clog in the pipes) but it is dripping from the box above the filter (I don't know the name of it). See pictures...Name: Water filter ceiling.jpg

A company came twice and could not help beside by saying "you should buy a new A/C"... this one is 6-7 years old.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Catherine

I can't see if your unit is properly trapped.
Can you post a picture of the drain piping in front of your horizontal air handler?

I would also add 2 90's to the secondary pipe between the air handler and the secondary pan to form a small trap. I see rust is beginning to build up on the secondary pan.

Welcome to the forums.

That seems to be a standard reply for some companies. :NO NO NO:

Your experiencing condensation. That's where the warm humid air hits the cold ductwork. That is condensation dripping from your return grill. It usually means there is an air leak around the ductwork allowing the hot air from the attic to enter the return duct system. Then it condenses inside the ductwork and runs to the lowest point which appears to be that grill.

The first place to start is checking the insulation around that duct that connects to that grill.

Smile Thank you

Houston204,
I will take other pictures tomorrow morning.
Thank you for helping out.

PJMax,
Thank you as well.
I will check the insulation tomorrow morning.
I came to the same conclusion today speaking with my dad and already added some aluminum "tape" but that might not be enough or at the right place.
I will add pictures about that too.

I appreciate your help.
