Ac unit not working!
So my fiancé was weed whipping and hit the red and white wire out the back of the unit. It had peeled back the plastic coating and possibly these two wires may have touched... I noticed tonight it was really warm in the house...I checked the fuses inside the box and one I couldn't get a reading on so I replaced both if them just to do it.... The unit only hums.. I tried pushing the fan with a stick it spins no problem just won't keep spinning... Any suggestions?

It sounds like the wiring carrying the low voltage (24VAC) control voltage coming from the thermostat to the outside unit was damaged. There is a transformer (inside the house near the furnace/air handler) that supplies the 24VAC. Many systems have a small (typically 3 amp) fuse to prevent the transformer from burning up should the 24VAC get shorted (what likely happened). Check around the furnace/air handler for a fuse. It often is an automotive type fuse. If you have a voltmeter, find the transformer and check to see if there is 24VAC coming out of it. If there is no voltage and no fuse, it's possible that the transformer is fried and you'll have to replace it.
