Outdoor Fan by Compressor is Intermittent

I heard my air conditioner clicking on and off in aprox. 30 second intervals and went outside to see what was going on. The compressor would start up but the fan and the blades would not move. I used a stick to see if I could "jump start" the fan. Nothing happened.

NOW, today, the A/C clicked on and fan is running. The unit is a Bryant and is 10 years old. I read some advice that said to change the capicator (sp) what does that look like and where is it? The motor looks very straight forward to change out, if that is the problem.

Any ideas?
THANKS!
By the way, Some of you folks were very helpful in fixing an A/C problem in the past. I appreciate that very much. Saved me BIG $.

I think your questions can be mostly answered by this thread...http://www.doityourself.com/forum/ai...ml#post2294265

Did the fan spin easily when you tried it and just didn't start?

Sorry, I'll need to step away for a while.
