Lost almost 18 lbs R410a from cracked reversing valve due to vibrations

My wife and I now need almost 18 lbs of R410a replaced.
This is the SECOND time in 14 months that the reversing valve of our Amana/Goodman unit cracked from vibrations.
We were given price of $45/lb not including labor..total refrig cost of $801.
Very upset...
Tried to get some more information and asked a lot of friends (a couple are union) and was told about a company that sells a 25 lb tank of R410a for $119.
Is this possible?
I'm going to talk to the service guy about this.
If he claims that this is not a real deal and won't drop the price, what else can I do?
I suggested to the service guy to install rubber mounts-how is it possible that this not done when the unit was first installed?
Any other ideas or solutions?

18 Lbs of 410a? Is this what the service tech told you? Maybe 8 Lbs on a residential unit at the most. $45 is way over priced.

Welcome to the forums.

How old is the unit ?

18 lbs of refrigerant..... not.
$45 a pound..... a tad high.

Might be time to find a new company.

Check the spec plate on the outdoor unit. It should tell how much was shipped in the unit. Usually enough for a 15' line set and coil. I'd call someone else.

You can get 30lbs of 410a for $125 all over the country.

No way the system holds 18 pounds. If someone told you this then they are most likely cheating you.
