AC still running at lower temperature than requested...
This looked similar to something I read earlier, but since my problem is slightly different I wanted to post my details in a separate post and not muck-up someone elses problem...
I happened to check the temp today at my thermostat as I walked past and noted that it was saying it was 71 and the AC was still running when I'd set it to be 73. I have a TRANE XL-19 unit if that matters, and it was set to a permanent
hold, and not running off a schedule.
I changed the setting from 'cool' to 'off' and heard the outside unit click off
immediately and the indoor unit went off 30 seconds to a minute after, tho
not right away.
A few minutes later, I went to put it back on 'cool' and saw as I got a 'wait' msg on the thermostat. Not sure what that's about. So far it's still at 73, tho it hasn't been long...
Anyone know a reason why it would still be on? Normal? Thermostat going bad? Something even worse?

No, I had it on 'permanent hold', which I can't even figure out how to get back, so now it's on a 'hold' for 365 days...oh wait, I got it back onto a permanent hold...
fwiw, the thermostat says its a Trane ComfortLink II, though its not the smart one that I get back if I do a google search on it. It's the XL900 model I think.
It's weird...I wonder if there's a reset button that would help it

Ok, after doing some online lookups on the XL900 thermostat, I'm wondering if this has something to do with humidity. Apparently they can be set to 'overcool' or something by up to 3 degrees. This would be optimal to hear that it's working correctly...anyone know if there's a way to check if this is the case?

I saw on the thermostat earlier the indoor humidity was 60 percent and it was set for 45...not sure how to check anything else, but I upped the setting to 55 and we'll see how it goes.

It is still going to overcool to dehumidify with those settings.
If the humidity setpoint is lower than the humidity reading it will run cooling to dehumidify.
Raise the humidity setpoint higher than the reading to prove that it will turn off if the humidity is also satisfied. (I would then put it back to a comfortable setting)
