Loose Blower

A buddy of mine has a Carrier Air V air conditioner unit on his RV and was mentioning that the unit was making a "clinky" noise. After opening the inside cover I discover that the blower is totally loose I can basically shift it from right to left and even up and down by half an inch and I can see plastic pieces in between the fines I assume from the gear or something else!!! my question is how much play should the blower have on the shaft? Should it be dead solid on the shaft? And 2 if I need to replace the blower is the only way to access it from the top? Meaning climbing on top of the RV and removing the blower from the top?

Thanks

Since I've posted that thread I've been looking for a replacement blower. Carrier told me it's been discontinued. I called the local RV shops around and no success. Anybody know where I could find an online store that would carry the part?
