Central Air Not Kicking On At All

The other day we shut our central air unit off to change the filters, when we went to turn it back on absolutely nothing happened. The thermostat would 'click' when we moved it like normal, but nothing would come on. No air, no heat, nothing. Nothing inside or outside is working. It'd been working just fine prior to this all spring and summer. We put a new thermostat on but that did not change anything. We've checked and rechecked the breakers multiple times but that wasn't the issue. I'm not very handy myself but my boyfriend is and he's not been able to figure it out.

Last year I had a fan replaced, which then broke the following day. I paid nearly $900 for the visit and they refused to come out after it stopped working so I've not been thrilled about the idea of calling someone out if I can avoid it.

Where did you turn off the unit at, the breaker or stat?

If you switch the Fan from Auto to ON, does the fan (blower) come on? Do you have a volt/ohm meter and know how to use it?

We had turned both off-a few times now.

Usually there is a service switch at the air handler/furnace.... is that on ?
Double check the blower door is in correctly.
