A/C is running but Suction Line is very hot whereas the liquid line is cool

There is a scroll type compressor in my Unit. We had no cool air in the house so this morning I went out to see if the unit was running and it was however, the suction line was very very hot, almost burned my hand while the liquid line was cool as if the unit was running backward . I'm thinking that the valves in the compressor have seen better days and needs replacing. Any Ideas?

Is this a heat pump? If so the reversing valve might be stuck.

The O terminal, usually orange wire, also needs to be energized on cooling or you'll get heat.
