Easy question on air handler parts

I have no idea what this part is, the plastic piece that opens flap while air is on (see picture, which is upside down for some reason)?? It is in duct connected to air handler. What is it and what's it's function? Is it required ?
Thank you for any assistance

Hi Ffreedom, your best bet would be to look online for that control. Not that I ever looked at the box stores but don"t recall seeing one there. Did you try following the wire to one point or another? Most of the ones I seen control a electronic air cleaner if I recall.

A sail switch can also be used to power a humidifier.
