Loose cold control bulb on window AC

The cold control bulb is loose and I read it should be attached against cooling coil. The snap on attachment is gone. Can I just use a thin copper wire to twist tie it tight against the coils? Would the copper wire and aluminum corrode? Is a plastic zip tie ok?

You should not put the bulb up against the coil. That will cause the unit to continuously short cycle. It needs to be positioned just in front of the coil to sense air temperature.

Like an 1/8 of an inch away ? What material or method could be best to fabricate a new attaching mechanism?

1/8"-1/4" should be fine.

I have plastic clips I use. You could probably cut two small strips of plastic from an old container... like a butter container. Put a hole the same size as the bulb in each one. Slide the plastic tabs on the bulb and then carefully into the coil.
