A/C and Heating systems

Present systems: Trane horizontal 4 ton furnace (1993) and Trane 4 ton Condenser A/C (1998).
Experiencing problems like frozen coil and bad blower on A/c and lately high pitched squeal coming from condenser. Because of age of both systems, considering replacement. Have seen advertisement for either Trane or Lennox Furnace Coil and Condenser, 15 seer heat pump and 16 seer gas complete equipment change for about $5000. Know very little about the systems, so would appreciate any guidance or information you might have.

Your current systems aren't that old. Consider some TLC with the help of the pros on here and you'll probably get another 5-10 years from them.

Blower motors are not expensive and fairly easy to replace. The frozen coil could be caused by the blower issue.

Some areas are not as good as others for the spine fin coil found on Trane units.
Dogwood trees are tough on Trane condensers.
I would take a look at the existing unit before making a decision.

I would never clean a condenser coil with fire.
