Clicking noise when AC trying to turn off

The AC unit in the attic clicks when the system is trying to turn off once it's reached the desired temperature. The clicking seems to be coming from the area just before the air enters the first air duct. Sometimes it can also create a booming sound that is very loud. It then turns itself back on again as normal to try and shut off again but most of the time it goes through it 3-4 times before actually shutting off completely.

Any help is much appreciated!

Welcome to the forums.

Not much to go on there and not a common problem either.
Is the outside unit working normally..... in that it shuts off and stays off or does it try to cycle too ?

Maybe a picture of the unit where you think the noise is coming from.

Is this booming noise in the cooling mode?

Heating mode booming noises can be an indication of a very dangerous condition.

What is the model number of the unit in the attic?
