We have a fairly new Carrier Puron Condenser and Furnace. Furnace model is FV48NF002. Few weeks ago had to have HVAC technician replace condenser fan as its bearing went out. System has been fine. Two days ago I was sitting downstairs as the a/c was cooling when I heard a light "pop" and the system stopped. I see no evidence of any sparks or shorts. I find no tripped breakers. I checked the terminals at the thermostat and they are fine. Replaced it's batteries and it will turn on the condenser fine. But the blower motor does not kick on. I have watched videos about checking capacitors, etc., but find none inside the furnace. Haven't done anything out at the condenser. The coils inside are cold when I let the condenser run. Please someone give me step by step instructions as to how to finish diagnosing and replacing. I suspect the blower motor itself, but don't know what I'm doing. Please help. I can't go much longer without air here in Orlando.

hi guys I am not sure how bad this is but we have a slight smell in the basement. I am not sure if this is mold or just humidity. I am still investigating the exact location of the problem but one thing is sure, it is due to humidity. While I am waiting for this I would like to do my best to improve the situation. One of the ways to do it is to run a dehumidifier which I am currently doing it. The other way to do it is to ventilate the house constantly (I was told) I live in Toronto and at this time of the year the weather is not very good, slight rain every one or two days, increased humidity due to proximity of lake Ontario and colder weather due to the fall season. The question that I have is this: can I run the AC fan continuously? Will this improve the situation? Does this just recirculate the air in the house or it brings fresh (and humid) air from outside I was also told that if I run the furnace more often to warm the basement this may actually aggravate the situation since it is going to change the dew point (warmer air can take more water vapors) thanks PF
