hey guys, quick question, i have a payne ph3z, the blower motor is out, of course it is an x13. model HD44AE139, i cant find one without giving like 500 bucks for one, and local company wants 700 plus for one, but i found an x13 cheap, new in box with the same specs, except the model is HD44AE234, they are both 1/2 hp and rpm and everything is the same, my question is is there any differences that would cause them not to interchange? i have already spent 600 plus and still have no heat, and the local guys are gouging me for more and more money. so i am gonna try to fix it my self. also if these two wont interchange is there any one that will with out changing a bunch of other stuff, or would it hurt to use a 3/4 hp or 1 hp? please any help will be greatly appreciated.

I apologize for the length of this post. I did try and break it down for quick info. My husband and I submitted an offer on the first house we're buying that was built in 2000, and it was accepted. Just a quick info on the HVAC units: Manufactored by Heil, R-22, lower unit is 1.5 tons and upper unit is 2 tons, and both units are 15 years old. We just had our home inspection and he made the following recommendations: • The upper heating unit has water in the tray which could indicate a blockage in the drain line and will need to be serviced and drain lines cleaned. • The lower heating unit is clogged with dust and mold and will need to be serviced and cleaned for proper operation. • The vent temperature was at 97 degrees and the intake was at 69 degrees for the lower heating unit and 126-131 degrees and 72 degrees on the upper heating unit, The upper heating unit was working fine at the time of inspection, but the lower heating unit was only heating by the heat strip and will need to be pressure tested for a leak to see if the unit can be repaired or will need to be replaced. • The vent temperature was 51 degrees and the intake was at 72 degrees on the upper cooling unit and 62 and 72 on the lower cooling unit. The upper cooling system was working fine at time of inspection, but the lower cooling system was working very hard to cool which indicates a leak in the coolant lines. • The lower cooling unit is aged and has several damaged section on the coil blades, suggest pressure testing to see if the system can be repaired or will need to be replaced. • The foam sleeve on the suction line is missing in areas of the outside cooling unit. Missing foam on the suction line can cause energy loss and condensation. A recommendation for service or repair was made. Well the sellers after receiving the inspection report had a technician come out without even asking what we were wanting them to do, and they went ahead and made the repairs. They unclogged the drain, found a leak in the evaporation coil and replaced the evaporation coil, installed insulation on suction lines, pressure tested tested, and evacuated the system and charged it to manufacturing specs. The inspector went out and followed up on his work and sent an ammended report saying that things were working satisfactory and that all suggested repairs were made. However, I still was at ease because of the unit's age and the inspector made comments that he thinks it should be replaced but he can't legally say that if repairs can be made to make it in operating condition. So, I hired my own HVAC technician to go out there and he said the same about the repairs, but said that the upper air handler had an 8KW heater drawing 32 Amps with a 10/2 wire fed that should be changed to a 5KW heater because it was a fire hazard. He said that the units were extremely old and really need to be replaced because we're just putting a bandaid on the system. I just don't want to go forward with this house with the concern that I will be spending another 10K to replace both units in a couple of months. My realtor is suggesting we purchase a home warranty through 2-10 to alleviate our concerns, but I don't want to buy that thinking it will cover anything that should happen and it doesn't and I'm left with the bill.
