Sharp CV-P12LX going haywire after breaker tripped

We had our portable Sharp AC running yesterday, and started the vacuum on the same circuit, and the breaker tripped. When I reset it, the Sharp came on, and multiple lights lit on its display. It will only respond to the power button the remote, but does not turn off. The only way I can shut it off is by unplugging it. If I hit any button like fan, mode, louvers, the machine does not respond at all. If I hit power button repeatedly on remote, the machine cycles between AC and fan. It does not turn off unless I unplug it. Is there some way to reset it?
Even if I push the power button on the machine directly, it will not turn off.

There are relays on the control board that are controlled by the board. It sounds like one of them may have gotten stuck/welded shut.

The control board shows as no longer available.
Are you handy with mechanical things ?
It could probably be fixed but the A/C's are not easy to dis-assemble and work on.

Yes. I had opened it up about 3 months ago when capacitor died. So far, it's been running great after that. I found a schematic of the control board. Not quite sure about checking relays.

If you can get to the relays, I would suggest gently tapping on the relay case. This might just free the relay if it's stuck.

I'll try that. I can definitely get into control box. The weird thing is that of all the buttons on the remote (over 20), the only button that the ac responds to is the power button. But it does not turn the machine on or off as it should. Instead, you hear the fan change speeds and the compressor turn on or off. It's almost like it's "scrambled" and needs to be reset. Normal operation would be with red LED on. If Megacool is also lit (green LED), it would be cooling on max. Now, as I push the power button on remote again and again, it changes the LEDs into combos I have never seen before (Timer comes on even when timer not pressed on remote). They do not blink, just come on steady. I can get the machine to cool, but most all of the other functions (like louvers, fan speed can't be changed. Does it still sound like stuck relay?

The relay that takes the most abuse is the compressor relay. You've said that the compressor does turn off so that would eliminate that one.

It does sound like it got scrambled. Try leaving it unplugged overnight and see if it resets.

If you have a schematic.... that would be helpful. Let me know as you would need to send it to me directly to be hosted or you could put it on a hosting site. The DIY board allows pictures but the size limit makes schematics unreadable.

The fan and compressor do stop and start. I will give an update on how it's acting when we go back the weekend after next. I think there is a schematic inside it too. Hopefully being unplugged for a while will unscramble its little brain.

Sharp portable AC CV-P12LX

We have a Sharp portable AC CV-P12LX It was working great until we had tripped a breaker when the vacuum cleaner was being used on the same circuit. When it came back on, multiple lights were lit on front panel (mega cool and timer and operation). The only way we can turn it off is by unplugging it. If we push the power button on the remote, it just beeps and different lights turn on on the front panel. The only remote button that it even responds to is the power button but not to turn it on and off. It seems to change the mode from ac to something else.

Anyone have any info on this situation? Currently, when I plug in ac, it immediately beeps and turns on. If I push power button on unit, it beeps and changes setting (maybe from AC to fan), but will not turn off unless I unplug it. The only button that AC unit responds to on remote is the power button, and again, it just changes the mode the unit is in from AC to fan or dehumidify. No other remote buttons do anything when pressed. Thanks.

Rather then start a new thread where all the same questions get asked again.... I moved your post to your already started thread.

I'm guessing that leaving the unit unplugged didn't help.
At this time it might be a good idea to contact Sharp and see if they can offer a remedy.

Sorry it had been a while, and I hadn't noticed any replies. Just got back tonight, and it's working normally. Must have needed to reset itself. Thanks for the advice

I was curious of the outcome. Thanks for the update.
