Post Blower Fan goes off

I have a similar problem with a Nordyne model Q3RD-042K. I turn on the unit, the fan comes on and after a few minutes the AC unit comes on. After another minute the fan goes off and does not come back on. I shut the whole thing down and start over, same process. Yes I have tried making a new thread but the icon does not appear anywhere for me.

Blower fan

Yes, learning how to use the site. Anyway its just the fan that supplies air to the house, goes off after the AC kicks in and never comes back on. Its an all in one unit hooked to a mobile home.

Blower fan

I haven't tried just starting the fan by itself by placing the fan switch to on instead of auto but I have switched it to "fan on" after shutting everything off and it doesn't come on. I have to let the whole thing sit for a while completely off before starting it again and the cycle starts again. The fan will come on first, the AC kicks in and after a minute the blower fan shuts off and does not come back on.
I will have to try just turning on the fan by itself next time to see if it comes on.

Either fan relay(board) problem or fan motor problem. need to use a multi-meter to find out if the fan motor terminals have power supply or not when the fan stops.

Blower Fan

So if I lose power to the fan then that means the relay (board) may be bad, correct?

You have what is called a packaged unit..... everything in one cabinet connected with ducts.

Yes.... the relay board could be defective. The motor start/run capacitor could also be defective.

You can also check the fan motor to see if it's shutting down on high heat. Turn off the service switch, remove the blower door and physically check the motor. If it's not hot.... see if it turns easily.

replace Motor and capacitor. replace both components and enjoy long term cool air. closely inspect the fan blade when you have everything apart clean and or replace as necessary.

Post Blower fan

It takes me a while to get back on this because this is a rental house. It’s empty right now. Anyway I tried it by running the fan only. Switched it to “Fan” and no AC. The fan ran fine no problems. I let it run for about 20 minutes. It never shut off. I turned on the AC with the fan switch still on “Fan”. I let it run for another 20 minutes and the fan stayed on. With the AC still running I switched the “Fan” to “Auto”. The fan kept running. I let it run for another 20 minutes. It never shut off, kept running. I shut it all off and let it set for a while. I turned it back on, AC to cool and “Fan” in “Auto”. The fan came on first like always, a few minutes later the AC comes on and after about a minute the fan goes off and it does not come back on. Back to the original problem. I turned it all off and let it sit for a while. I tried it again by turning on the fan by itself and then switching on the AC, the fan stays on.

Sounds like a control board or T-stat problem, but you need to use a multi-meter to find out.
