Intake in basement

folks

Just bought a home and I have a 4 ton combo heating/cooling unit in the basement in the boiler room and its only intake is the furnace itself which obviously takes air in from the boiler room. Do you think this is correct or should the unit's intake face the finished part of the basement and bring in air from there?

What intake are you referring to? The intake for combustion or for air circulated through the home?

Rheem A/C goes out repeatedly

hey there, new to the forums. My Rheem AC has an interesting issue. It does not work. If I cycle power (pull the breaker for a minute and put it back) it will work, then go out again a couple days later. When I hit the the test switch I can hear the compressor click on and the fan makes a very slow 1/4 turn before the whole thing shuts off. Is the motor going or is it something else? Any thoughts or ideas. Thanx in advance.

Just had my central a/c serviced about 2 months ago. They replaced the capacitor and recharged the refrigerant. I turned on the A/C yesterday and it appeared to be working fine then I noticed the house was really warm and when I checked the vents it was blowing room temperature air so I turned it off. A couple hours later I turned it back and I hear and feel that the blowers are turning on but it doesn't sound like the compressor is coming on. The unit is about 5 years old Are these symptoms indicative on a specific problem?
