Blank Carrier thermostat

Good Afternoon all you geniuses of the world. I am literally a dummy when it comes to this sort of thing but I was reading some of the posts. trying to understand how the wires are ran and what they do.

Ok I want to first say thank you for being on this site and being available to help little ladies like me who haven't the slightest idea what to do.

I have a carrier system thermostat, the condenser and air handler. The thermostat itself has no batteries as I can see when i remove the panel. It went out a couple of weeks ago and i had no a/c. A friend came by and said it was a loose wire and it came back up for a week or two. It went out again and I have flipped the main switch to see if it would come back on.

Is it possible to help me trouble shoot with me knowing so little?

Welcome to the forums Minnie.

Where is your inside air handler located ?

If it's in a location like a closet or the attic then it probably has a safety float switch on it and the tray that collects the water is full. That switch activates when it senses an overfull condition and shuts down the system.
