water dripping by my airfilter?
Noticed the other day I had a wer spot on the floor underneath the air intake where the air filter goes. Then i came home from work and it was a bunch of water. I took out the air folter and it was totally dry so whatever is causing this is not touchong the filter.
My first thought was the system had froze so overnight I ran just the fan and the temp went up to 82. I turned it back to auto and cool and it went down to 78 where I had set it well my wife and I were both super hot the thermostat keeps reading 78 but it just feels hot in the house any ideas before I have to call a guy?
The unit is definitely on its last leg I just bought the house back in April was hoping to hold off at least a year.
Up till now id say the issue was it was almost too cold and it seemed to run alot more than needed.
Also if i buy a new thermostat with wifi and all this crazy stuff in it how hard will it be to install that?
Thanks!

Is the evaporator coil clean? That can be sprayed and probably should be cleaned you can find the cleaner at one of the big box stores,as for the wifi thermostat they work great, before you buy one remove the cover from the existing one and see how may wires are connected and fit there are any spares.

Update, went up in attic and the drip tray is dry. I did notice it seems the water does not come out of the air inflow duct until the a/c cycles off. I have taken pictures below. My (extremely uneducated about HVAC) assumption is that the coils are freezing up causing periods where the air is not cold and the. I find im shutting off the cool function for an hour ir so just running the fan. After that i set it back to cool and all is well.
How would I clean the coils any instructable youd recconend for that? Is this something a typical person with some ambition can do? Are the coils up in the attic or in the thing outside?
Ill check out the Honeywell mentioned one important feature for me is to have auto humidity control (ac turns on if humidity gets to high) living in FL
Thanks for the help everyone!
Water leaking out of air intake (I assume condensation )

The grey area L shaped thing is the air intake

Still getting a lot of water leaking. The rep told me she had her AC serviced and had her AC UNIT removed from the attic and put somewhere else downstairs.. sounds like a cool plan of course that wouldnt really fix my current issue

Did the Shopvac drain suck trick using Duct-tape to connect the vac to the drain line see if that makes a difference. I will be monitoring the air intake for the next day or so before I assume im out of the woods.
Still would like to know where I should spray that foam stuff if I bought it up in the attic or down in the outside unit?

will update with hopefully good news!
