Welcome to the forums.

Do you know anything about troubleshooting ? Do you have a volt/ohmmeter ?

When the thermostat calls for cooling there is a contactor that closes inside the condensor. This is a big relay that supplies switched power to the compressor and the fan. You will need to disconnect power to the condensor unit, remove the electrical wiring cover and check the contactor for operation.

The contactor gets 24vac from inside the house so it will work even with the power turned off to the condensor.

When the contactor should be activated...... the plastic piece with the pink dot is what gets pulled in.

I have seen a bad capacitor cause this many times.

Capacitors often swell up on top when they fail. The top should not look like a can of soda left in a freezer overnight.

This example is very swollen.

Even though this example is not as swollen it will read 0 microfarad instead of the correct reading.
