LG Window Air Unit LW1812ER

I have an LG Window Air Cond., Model #LW1812ER
I think the Electronic Control box may be going south. I have to press the on button 2 or 3 times, to turn it on. When I hit it to turn it off, the digital temp (which I can set) goes up or down instead of shutting off. After a couple of tries, it does shut off. Sometimes, the temperature setting just goes up or down on it's own.
Is this replaceable? Is it worth it? I've had it four years.

Also, sometimes the on/off button starts flashing red. When I turn it off and back on, it stops. Anyone know what this means?

I looked here and it appears the control panel is a bit over $100.00.
That a/c looks to be about $500.00 so if you can do it or get inexpensive labor it might be worth fixing.

It does have one, but I never use it. The air is in my dining room and we're usually in the living room or kitchen. Hmm, didn't think to try that.
I'll check it out tomorrow and will let you know.

That would tell you if it was a control board problem or a keypad problem.
Sometimes those tactile button keypads wear out.

Maybe less costly to just change the keypad if that's the problem.

OK, good to know. So I found the remote and the battery is dead, lol. It takes one of those little round flat ones, which I don't have any hanging around.
At least I know what to test now. If the remote works OK, I'll just use that. Thanks.

OK, got the battery in and everything seems to be working normal using the remote.
Goes on the first time and off the first time and the it stays at the temp I set it on.
SO, I guess it was the keyboard thing.
Today's probably the last day I'll be running the air, so I'll see next summer for sure. In the meantime, I guess I saved a buck! Thanks Pete!

Cool. In the meantime I'll see if I can locate a replacement keypad assembly.

Bringing this back because it's about the same A/C.
The remote's been doing the trick for the Control Box, but after it's been running a while (had it running for 3 straight days during the heat wave), a red flashing light comes on. This light is between the Temp control and Power on/off button. I turn it off for awhile and then it stops blinking. There's nothing in the manual about it.
Does anyone know what it means? I'm thinking this unit might be a piece of junk!
