2nd floor 96 degree AC sizing

300 sq foot room that gets some late afternoon sun unfortunately. someone converted the attic to a bedroom and there's minimal insulation used. barely enough to fill the 2 bys that framed the room. adding any insulation at this time is impractical and the room is now just going to be used for the occasional billiards game.

however i do want to buy the right sized AC unit. i had an old small unit (5 or 6K i think) laying around so i ran that but of course thats way too small to do anything. the epa site says 8K should do it and add 10% for sunny room. however does that factor in the 96 degree temps i experienced in that room?

i know its bad to oversize but i was wondering if 10 or 12K would be best. Id really like to stick under 300 and cheaper is really better as this will get very very infrequent use but when i need it, i need it , so to speak.

i never considered used before but this is one area where if possible to find i may do it.
