First off, I've been reading this forum the past few days and have learned a lot about my problem, I think I am ready to proceed but wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting time. So the other day house was warm, (Thermostat on 78) no air coming out of vents, outside unit running, inside blower not running and the Acoil completely Iced over everywhere. Turn everything off, wait til next day. Next day I changed the filter (dirty), cleaned the Acoil (very dirty) and turned it back on. It ran ok for about 10 min, then the air stopped coming out of the vents. The blower was not runnning (motor was hot) and the acoil was starting to ice over. Turned it off. Turned off cool and just ran fan, 3 min blower stopped, and even though the cool was off the coil was getting cold? The unit is a down airflow (mobile home) about 13 years old, everything original. The water tray under the Acoil has about 1/3" of water, the drain is clear, it appears it was designed this way? Questions: Is there any way low freon can cause the blower motor to stop? Can the blower capacitor cause the motor to overheat? Is the fact the blower motor is hot pretty much mean it is shot? I've resigned myself I need a new blower motor and cap, but before I tear it down wanted some wisdom. Thanks!

Happens every few weeks. Apartment is hot and not cooling. Take the filter out and the area adjacent to the filter on the inside has a solid sheet of ice on it ... ?(outside air->filter->frozen area) Leave the filter out and leave the cover off and the ice melts quickly (since the place is so hot). Put the filter back in and put the cover back on and everything works fine for a few more weeks. Weird huh
