Frigidaire room a/c model FRA106HT1: Bad design for cleaning front louvers
Because it's now so warm in my northern tier state and because I live on the top floor in a hot, way overheated apartment building and because I can't sleep when it's so hot in this building, I installed today my through-the-wall Frigidaire room a/c model FRA106HT1 which will only drop the temp to 60 F-- for proper sleep, I'd like it even lower than 60 F !
The swivel louvers in the front were covered with black mildew. I used a stiff brush dipped in plain vinegar to try to get off much, but not all, of that dried-up black mildew. But I can't get the mildew-covered plastic louvers behind the front louvers.
I thought that the entire front plastic part, which holds the outer, swivel louvers, could just be popped off so that I'd be able to do a proper cleaning. Thinking I might break something, I called the Frigidaire customer support woman in Georgia. She did some checking and told me that, for my now-discontinued model, it's not possible to just pull off that entire front plastic part. So the nasty mildew is still there in those set-back louvers behind the front louvers from which I was able to get off most of the dried-up black mildew.
Too bad this is a bad design. The a/c engineers should make this entire front, plastic part to easily pop off when pulled so that a good cleaning is made easy.
I suppose others have encountered this very same problem with this Frigidaire room a/c model FRA106HT1. Yes? Any other tips and advice from users?

Check the link I left. It may not be your exact model number but the front panel shows as the same part number as yours and is removable.
See if that helps you. Let me know.

Hello PJmax,
Thanks for your help. Yes, I now see the 2 screws so I know now what to do. Tomorrow I'll continue with the cleaning work by removing that plastic front grill. I think - I hope - the buttons control panel will be OK when all the other plastic pulls off. It looks as if that control panel is surrounded by - and isn't part of - the front plastic grill.
I'm happy you're here to help others and me.
