Compressor take a while to start during the hot time of day
Replace the fan control board at night work good during the hot time of the day it take 5 min or longer down good what else would cause this

Welcome to the forums.
Many/most thermostats have a 5 minute compressor turn on delay.
Some A/C condensors have a 5 minute timer board in them.
Some heat pumps have a delay built in.
We'd need a make and model of the condensor to check further.
The new control board should have come with some type of documentation.
A delay may be indicated on there.

Usually when the compressor cap is bad the compressor will hum loudly or cut out on thermal overload pretty quickly.
