Casement Window AC question
I have a 14 3/4 inch opening in my window. The casement AC i'm looking at says it 14 5/8 inches wide...I'm thinking that it'll fit but I read down farther on the spec sheet and it says it needs a minimum of 15 1/2 width for it.
What is the extra 3/4 inches for? I don't have it. Will the 14 5/8 fit?

it say that the width of the unit is 14 5/8 inches and then it says minimum opening (width) 15 1/2 inches. I can't figure it out. 14 5/8 will be a tight fit but it'll work and if I do need 15 1/2 inches for some reason, I'm out of luck.

They usually have baffles attached to the side to close off the rest of a traditional window opening width. The unit dimensions are probably for the metal box of the unit itself without the baffles.

Can those baffles be removed OR can I just insert the unit into the opening as far as those baffles?

My experience is that you add the baffles after the shipment of the product. So technically, if the unit will fit the opening, not adding the baffles will work. You can add thick foam padding to take up the small space where the baffles would have been. It is the balance of the vertical space that you will need to account for on a casement or sliding window. Make sure your casement will open to a full 90 degrees before committing to your unit.

Thank you. Yes the widow does open up far enough to slide a unit in and I will support it from the outside.
