Question Central A/C Placement -- On top of Deck?

My daughter has a brick town home. A deck is being replaced, and we need to decide on placement for the central a/c unit. I do not like the idea of putting it under the deck. Is there any reason the a/c unit could not be installed on top of the deck? Maybe with some sort of lattice type screen around to hide it? The unit is very quiet. We live in the midwest and have very hot, humid summers. I am thinking this deck will be used mostly in the spring/fall (when the a/c is not in use that much).

Thanks for your opinions!

It's nice for the condensor to be shaded from the sun but is not imperative. It should operate fine on the deck. I'd just make sure the framing under it can handle it ok.
