Evap cold only at bottom but when dipping sense tube in warm water all evap work
Hi, I noticed my AC is not keeping up (about 5 years old R22 Evap and 3.5 years old compressor 4 ton) with the heat mid-day. The system has been working for the past 5 years, I keep the house on 75.
I Checked the evap with a thermal camera and only bottom half was cold (~30) and top part of evap was warm (~70). I dipped the sense tube (~60 when on return line) in a cup of warm water and I could see with the camera how the higher evap tubes are getting colder (in less than 5 min went down to ~60), I guess that means there is enough refrigerant in the system? (I don't have a gauge set to check subcooling).
Are these symptoms possibly indicating I need to adjust the TXV? Or am I missing refrigerant?
More stats:
Liquid line temp (same temp on both end of drier): 82.5
Suction line temp: 70
Outside temp:91
Thank you in advance master.

These forums do not support DIY sealed system advice and can not be of help.
There are several professional forums that do.
