A have a Goodman unit SSX140421CB that is currently blowing room temperature air. (It stopped blowing cold rather abruptly 2 days ago) I did some preliminary troubleshooting - checked filter, hand-checked temp of coolant and return lines at the outside unit, etc. The outside unit fan is working, but both the coolant and return lines are room temp to the touch - not cold or freezing, not hot. I called a technician who came out, said the fins are dirty and I would need a new Contactor and Capacitor. He also wanted about $500 for the job, to which I said no thank you - my gut told me I was looking at a hugely inflated repair bill if I continued with this company. So I ordered replacement parts myself, which are coming in the mail. And cleaned out the fins with a hose. Since I have time until the parts come in: I have a spare contactor so I swapped that out; (my replacement is rated for 40 amps, versus the original 25 amp contactor). I have good voltages on the mains side and the unit side of the contactor, and 25 volts across the relay when the unit is in cooling mode. The big fan outside starts and runs, but inside I still get room temp air. While the unit is running, (And exercising extreme caution with the exposed wires and connectors) I checked the capacitor with a multimeter across C to Herm, and from C to Fan and I do get a varying reading (digital multimeter) of 240-300VAC across both of those. The capacitor itself is clean with no obvious leaks and the top is almost flat - if it is bulging, it is just the teeniest amount and not obvious at all. What little I know about AC units is mainly electrical, gleaned from talking with the guy who troubleshot my old unit, and eventually replaced it with the Goodman. I'm used to working safely with AC and DC voltages, and know the dangers of capacitors, moving parts - but I am not an HVAC technican. :( My wife and I are patiently waiting for the replacement Capacitor (and a spare contactor) to come in at this point and making do in 90 degrees with fans. :help: At this point does it look like the capacitor could still be bad? :help: Can I do any more tests? I have a simple Fluke digital multimeter that can check voltages and resistance (but not capacitance) :help: Would there be any point in disconnecting the Cap and seeing if I can read across the wires leading to the compressor? :help: Is there any other "bonehead" checking I can do to check the compressor?

Hi there! Recently purchased Soleus Air MT1-19-32 misting fan. In the beginning worked very well and was perfect for the use I bought it for. BUT, after only a couple weeks of use the unit is so plugged up with minerals I am unable to get water through anymore. I called Soleus Air and they tell me the unit is designed not to plug up and they have no procedure to deal with this. When it first plugged I tried putting some vinegar in the unit. It helped for a day or two. Does anybody know how to deal with it? All help and suggestions will be much appreciated.
