Goodman AC blower fan not working
I just bought a home 4 months. The home is complete remodel with all new equipment including goodman split(a/c , heat) heatpumpt system, based on permits the system was instated last nov 2016
Goodman a/c & Heat , GSZ140301
the system worked fine all summer until now, we heard large noise coming out of blower fan. then we turned it off.. after a few hours, we started it.. and it was working and make the home cold.
but last two days, it is not blowing any air. I did some observations..
1.) condenser fan and compressor works
2.) Turned off the power from circuit breaker, tried to move the blower fan/motor wheel by hand, on the unit , since some very loud noise was coming, it seemed to me that the wheel was touching the fan cover and it was not moving freely.. -- is this a problem?
the unit & part is brand new under warranty not labor, what should I test?

You have at least a one year parts and labor warranty.
That appears to be a manufacturing issue.
The blower wheel hitting the squirrel cage is definitely a problem.

Thank you Pete.
I called up Goodman, they said only parts are covered since I am not the original owner.
and I don't know who installed it.
I will have to get the HVAC guy in.
Now the q. becomes, do I have to call only Goodman service guy? (due to warranty? ) or any hvac will work?
If I use local HVAC, will they be able get the parts from Goodman under warranty?
any cost estimations?

I don't know who installed it.
You would have to use the services of a company that sold/serviced Goodman. That shouldn't be too difficult as it's a fairly popular brand now.
You should be able to turn power off to the air handler, climb inside the blower section and see what the problem is with the blower. If you can't fit in there use a flashlight and mirror.
The model number you posted is for the outside condensor. The inside air handler will have a different model number.

It's possible but doubtful it's a bad motor if something is rubbing.
I was only kidding about climbing inside. A flashlight and mirror would be helpful.
If you can see the motor you should be able to see the blower wheel. When you turn the wheel by hand... try to determine what is rubbing.
If you do require the services of a company..... be prepared to pay an initial fee of $100-150 for a diagnostic service call. If it's something bent or rubbing.... it may be fixable on the spot. If it requires a return visit with parts.... there will be more labor charges.

There is a setscrew holding the blower wheel to the motor shaft.
It may not have been tightened properly.

Update: so I called the Goodman Approved contractor from Goodman website, and the guy told me over 1k to fix it.
also they said that I have to deal with parts, meaning I have to call goodman and claim the warranty and get the parts.. does this make any sense?
Do you think If I call and ask for parts replacement they will send it to me ?

No one will send you replacement parts without an authorization.
No problem. That guy is telling you they don't want to fix your unit.
Call some local companies. Use friends and neighbors recommendations. You need to have the problem identified so you know which way to go. Once the problem is identified you'll know if you need a warranty part.
