AC and Filter

The thermostat had signaled me to change the filter. However, I didn't change it until about a week or so later. The AC was cooling the house fine. However, when I did change the filter, now the AC is running but it's not cooling the house. What could the problem be? Thanks

What kind of thermostat, and cooling system is this?
Most filter reminders are simply timers, that don't have anything to do with the actual filter condition.
What filter did you install? Is the unit running?

If it were a problem with the filter.... you could possibly experience weak airflow out of the registers. As mentioned.... the change filter light s just based on system running hours so if you don't change it immediately nothing adverse will happen.

I can't tell what the name of the AC unit. However the thermostat is by Vivint and the filters are Flanders E-Z flow. I did notice some liquid on the floor near the bottom of where we put the filter.

Was the old filter fairly dirty ? You may have a frozen over evaporator coil from restricted airflow. You could run the system in FAN ON mode for an hour or two to melt the ice and then go back to normal cooling.

Yes it was fairly dirty. I will try the fan on method and see what results I get from that. Thanks

New filter should not cause AC problem unless something wrong with the new filter. Put the old filter back or simply run without a filter and see if your AC works. if your AC still does not work, then it has nothing to do with the filter.

I don't believe he had a problem with the new filter. It looks more like the old one was plugged and the evap coil froze over.
